Monday morning Pumpkin blossom and Moonbeam Coreopsis

Pumpkin blooms arrive this morning, golden yellow unfurling blossoms. In Japan, the blossoms are picked, dipped in tempura batter, fried gently for a delicacy. Grown in a big pot, my hope is that mine will produce a plump pumpkin in the fall.

I love all that gorgeous yellow. What else are you growing?

My son and I have pumpkins growing...but no yellow blooms to pollinate yet. We haven't had much rain here. Hope to see some orange pumpkins come October!

tut-tut... only pumpkins! I saved and dried seeds last fall. Even if I do not get any pumpkins, the foliage and blooms are fun to watch.

adn... I have been hand watering mine like crazy! They drink voraciously...several buckets per day. I may have to hand-pollinate also, as the blooms are only open a short time in the morning. I m waiting for a "female" bloom to arrive, as I only have males right now. Good luck with yours. Fun for kids to watch them grow from little seeds.
