My daughter recommended the movie, Bottle Shock to me and a good one it was. Dating back to the early 70's, I recall California wines to include Mad Dog (Mogen David) 20-20, Manischewitz, Boone's Farm Strawberry flavored vino...gag me with a spoon. Then it was on to the Italian wines, such as Lambrusco that came in attractively shaped, swollen, green-glassed bottles. Drink fast and insert a candle which dripped multi-colored wax down its sides. Moving on, to follow were the wine coolers that were so sweet and syrupy, a glass of water to follow was necessary. The Judgement of Paris changed all that, and thank goodness for it.
